Effective March 2019:

My rates are listed below (no tax is charged on these services).  Longer sessions are recommended for couples because this tends to be a more efficient use of our time together.

  • Individual Counselling (/50 minute session) – $130.00
  • Couples Counselling (/75 minute session) – $210.00
  • Premarital Counselling & Education (/75 minute session) – $210.00
  • Premarital Package (5 x 75 minute sessions) – $950.00

Reduced rates

A sliding scale is available for a certain number of low-income clients or those experiencing significant financial barriers, who would otherwise not be able to afford a qualified counsellor.  Please inquire when you book your first appointment if you believe you qualify for the reduced rate.

If you are committed to a longer therapy course then I am able to offer a more economical option. To honour your commitment I will provide a 10% discount for 10 sessions.

Telephone consultation

For clients who I have previously seen in person, phone check ins can be a convenient, more affordable option.

Telephone consultations are charged by the ¼ hour, except for initial consultations, booking or making changes to existing appointments under 15 minutes.

Payment for each session is requested at the end of each appointment, after which a receipt will be issued to you. The following forms of payment are accepted:

  • Cash
  • Cheque made out to Ruth Skutezky
  • E-transfer
  • Credit Card – VISA, Mastercard, American Express using Square. For information about Square security, please consult their website: https://squareup.com/ca/security

Cancelled and/or missed appointments

48 hours’ notice is expected to cancel an appointment.   Within 24 hours, or in case of illness, half of the cost will be refundable.  Unfortunately no shows will be charged at the full rate, as the office is booked exclusively for you.  Late arrivals will still end as scheduled, so try to allow a window for unexpected events such as traffic and parking in order to receive your full session.

Extended health benefits

Clinical counsellor fees are not covered by MSP but may be completely or partially covered by your extended medical plan, or possibly deductible as a medical expense on income taxes.  Some insurance companies will cover expenses of a counsellor, but it is best to check that your plan covers “Registered Clinical Counsellors” so that you know what the full cost of my services will be to you.  Also, some insurance plans will cover counselling only if you, as an insured person, request it.  Feel free to contact me if you have further questions about this, and I can send you more information.
